Youssef Hesham studied Broadcasting and Film making in Cairo. He started his career when he was just under 18 when he got his first job in a length feature film. Later that year he directed his first short feature film.
He worked as editor, freelance director and few times as an assistant director. He directed seven short films including "Extreme Close Up" in 2005 and "The Greatest of Sins" in 2007 which brought him critical acclaim and several awards.
He also directed 3 documentaries. His documentary "Today's Directors" in 2005 portrayed the rise of the Egyptian underground cinema and shades a light upon the struggle of young directors and it earned critical acclaim.
His short documentary "Istabl Antar's Dream" 2006 won him the most honorable national award for films, Best short Documentary. He also directed and co-presented one season of a summer TV show in Egypt.
In 2009 he directed his first length feature "The Glimpse". "The Glimpse" was based on a short story by the Nobel prize winner Egyptian writer "Naguib Mahfouz", and the leading roles went to Egyptian cinema's superstar and icon "Hussein Fahmy", "Ahmed Hatem" and "Mona Hala" and it earned the Special Jury Prize when it was premiered in Alexandria International Film Festival.
