Director Wallace Fox has sort of been forgotten in time, though he does have a few films that have become cult favorites. There isn't much known on Wallace Fox, but he was born March 9th, 1895 in Purcell, Oklahoma and he began directing in the silent era and his first film was the Bandit's Son from 1927.

Fox mostly worked on films with a very small budget and the good portion of his films were for the poverty row studio Monogram. His most notable films would be Bowery at Midnight and the Corpse Vanishes both with Bela Lugosi for Monogram and Pillow of Death which starred Lon Chaney Jr and was made by Universal, but Universal in the 1940s were more along the lines of B-movies, but were a major step up from Poverty Row.

Besides those three films, Fox made quite a few films with the East Side Kids all with Monogram, but even his more popular films are still fairly underground. Wallace Fox also specialized in making low budget westerns as his career is filled with them.

The 1950s was the final decade for Wallace as a director as he would mostly direct TV shows. In 1950 Wallace Fox directed a total of 8 films and in 1951 two feature films with Montana Desperado being his final film, which fittingly was for Monogram.

The remainder of his credits were all TV with the most notable being the Lone Ranger with 11 episodes directed. His final directing credit was in 1954 with an episode of Annie Oakley. Wallace Fox would pass away June 30th, 1958 at the age of 63.
