His short form work has won awards from the Directors Guild of America and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences leading him to be recognized by Filmmaker Magazine as one of "25 New Faces of Independent Film" to watch.

His writing has been recognized by the 'Blacklist' and he is a winner of the Academy Nicholl Fellowship.Professional Work: Dewan was director trainee on prime time shows including "Heroes" and "Friday Night Lights" for NBC Universal.

His debut screenplay "Sand Dogs" was awarded the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Nicholl Fellowship and garnered a spot on Hollywood's coveted 'Blacklist.' Subsequently, Dewan wrote the feature "The Knife" for Imagine Entertainment and Universal Pictures with collaborator Kimberly Peirce ("Boys Don't Cry") attached to direct and Brian Grazer ("Beautiful Mind") producing.

Dewan also wrote the movie of the iconic game "Monopoly" for Sony Pictures, Hasbro Entertainment, Emmet/Furla Films and Scott-Free. Dewan co-wrote coming-of-age movie "Be Here Now" for Voltage Pictures with Nicolas Chartier ("The Hurt Locker") producing.

Along with Executive Producers Claire Danes ("Homeland"), JJ Philbin ("Single Parents") and Thomas Kail ("Hamilton") sold project "Small Mediums at Large" to Fox 21.Background & Education: Dewan was displaced from his home by the first Gulf War and attended Westminster School in London and graduated Yale University, Phi Beta Kappa, earning degrees with double distinction in Psychology and Film Studies as well as the Lustman Award for visual arts.

At Yale he studied under German filmmaker Michael Roemer and also studied at Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. His early training in the Production Design department on Mira Nair's "Monsoon Wedding" preceded volunteering documentary and photography work for the Clinton Foundation's A.

I.F. initiative in India. He later received his MFA from the USC School of Cinema, where he was awarded the John Huston Directing Award and the Bush Cinematography Award. His short film "Clear Cut, Simple" won top awards at 23 film festivals including SXSW, BAFTA/LA, Aspen & Shanghai.

Dewan resides in Los Angeles, California and is represented by United Talent Agency and law firm Gang, Tyre, Ramer.
