Ubaldo Maria Del Colle was both an actor and director, often at the same time, two different aspects through which emerge other facets of his artistic work: he also wrote many scripts of his movies and in 1914 founded his own production company, Riviera Film, with his friend Riccardo Caimmi (a well-known actor of Italian theatre).
In the first decade of the twentieth century, he worked especially in Turin, first in collaboration with Pasquali & C., where he both directed and starred in the popular Raffles film series, which were exported to both France, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and later with Savoia Film.
After the Second World War, he moved to Naples, where he met Gustavo Lombardo (a film producer) and he became the most important director of Lombardo Film and of 'sceneggiata', cinematographic genre.
