His Christmas novel, When Angels Sing, was adapted into the film Angels Sing, starring Harry Connick, Jr., Connie Britton, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson. Turk also plays a role in the film. A former stand-up comedian who toured with Rodney Dangerfield and many others, Pipkin has written over 100 hours of prime time television.

In the third and fifth seasons of HBO's series, "The Sopranos," he played Aaron Arkaway, the born-again, narcoleptic, boyfriend of Tony's sister, Janice.
