Tim Bartell is a writer-director-producer. He was born and raised in Wisconsin and later moved to Los Angeles where he still resides. As a young actor he had a long list of TV credits. He also had supporting roles in the films Meatballs II and the cult horror film, Society.
Early on, Tim was developing his comedy chops at The Comedy Store, and in the improv group The L.A. Connection.He later turned to writing & directing, starting with his 2005 award winning short film, First Date Meltdown.
The film debuted at The Los Angeles International Shorts Fim Fesival and went on to play in 22 film festivals. In 2008, Tim wrote and directed his satiric comedy web-series, Fun With War Crimes. The eight part cult series was featured by site editors on YouTube, Jib-Jab, Democratic Underground and The Daily Tube.
Dirty Beautiful (2015) was Tim's first feature film as a writer-director. It played in 67 U.S. and international film festivals, winning 48 awards. It received distribution and can now be seen on Amazon, iTunes, Vudu, Google Play and YouTube VOD.
Tim's style of filmmaking has been compared to Woody Allen and Alexander Payne. His L.A. based company is Doggie Dream Productions.
