Steve Monarque is an American actor, writer and director based in New York and Los Angeles. He grew up in the suburban New Jersey community of Pompton Lakes. As an actor Monarque has appeared in well-known films including No Small Affair (1984) and Sixteen Candles (1984).

In 1985, he was the lead in a special MTV video for the popular song "25 or 6 to 4", by the rock band Chicago. Monarque starred in two award-winning TV movies, "ABC Afterschool Specials: Stoned" (1980), co-starring with Scott Baio, and "CBS Schoolbreak Special: The Day the Senior Class Got Married" (1985), co-starring with Paul Dooley.

He also starred in the romantic comedy film Under the Boardwalk (1989), as tough guy surfer "Reef Yorpin". In 1989, he joined the syndicated series "Friday the 13th" as regular cast member "Johnny Ventura".

The series (known in Europe and Canada under the title "Friday's Curse") has a loyal cult following and remains a favorite for many horror TV fans worldwide. After landing a role in the Chris Carter movie Fencewalker, Monarque appeared on "ER" (2007), "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (2010) and "Close to Home" (2006).

As a writer, Monarque's play "That's Life" was produced at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles in 2002. Monarque's writing/directing effort "Free Country" won best play in the 2009 Strawberry One Act Festival and won best short film at the New York City International Film Festival (2011).

Founder of MonaVision Films, Steve's latest writing/directing project, the made-for-TV short film "Simpler Times", stars Jerry Stiller with special guest star Anne Meara. Festival screenings and awards include: the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (Spirit of the Independent Award); the International Family Film Festival, Hollywood, CA (Best Short Comedy); the Lighthouse International Film Festival, NJ (Audience Choice Award, Best Short); WorldFest Houston (Gold Remi Award); the Manhattan Film Festival (Winner); the Big Apple Film Festival (Golden Apple Award presented to Jerry Stiller); the Nevada Film Festival (Platinum Reel Award); the San Diego Jewish Film Festival; the New Jersey Int'l Film Festival (Honorable Mention), the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival (LA Shorts Fest) and HollyShorts Film Festival.
