Shae D'lyn is the daughter of stage actor Michael Shelle and writer Peggy Sherertz and lives primarily in New York and Los Angeles. She graduated cum laude from "The Special Scholars Program" at The University of Virginia and then attended a post-graduate two-year theater program in New York, earning a professional degree in Theater Arts from Circle in the Square. There, she studied with the great Teresa Hayden, Alan Langdon, Joanna Gleason, Lucille Rubin, et al. Al Pacino bestowed her the honor of casting her as the understudy for "Salome" on Broadway, while still in school.Shae has played leading roles opposite outstanding actors: in The Pretty One (2013), opposite Zoe Kazan and John Carroll Lynch; in The Motel Life (2012), opposite Emile Hirsch; in Secrets (1995), opposite Julie Harris and Thomas Gibson; in Arthur Miller's "American Clock", opposite Mary McDonnell and Loren Dean; and in Vegas Vacation (1997), opposite Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid. Her dramatic and comic roles on television include Ellen (1994), "Law and Order" (1990), Quantum Leap (1989), That '70s Show (1998) and four years starring as "Jane" on ABC's "Dharma and Greg" (1997). Shae starred as "Baby Doll" in the New York theatrical premiere of Tennessee Williams' "Tiger Tail", receiving a rave review by The New York Times. Her character interpretations have given her the opportunity to create many original roles such as "Theresa" in the U.S. premiere of "The Crackwalker", and "Maddy" in the world premiere of "Maddy Far Away". Shae spent four years working almost exclusively in the classics, receiving a Best Actress award for "Adrianna" in "The Comedy of Errors" at Boston's Leland Center, and starring as "Iphigenia", "Electra", "Desdemona", and many others.She also directs and produces theater, film, and television productions and has just completed her first feature screenplay. She founded a production company, "Shot in the Dark Films", and the "Independent Artists' Cooperative" in Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver, and Toronto with over 600 members. Her film, Morir para ser libre (2006), was featured in the Boston Film Festival, "Contragolpe" won the Coco de Oro festival, and her documentary, "El Coro en Japon", was featured on public television in Puerto Rico. Descarga.com chose Shot in the Dark's hour-long salsa DVD as the Editor's Pick Best Video of 2007. Her feature length documentary, "Los Vandalos", about the struggle between the power structure and graffiti artists fighting to have a personal voice, is heading toward its premiere at the Latino Film Festival of Los Angeles.Her project, "HearMe - The Imagine Project", won the Audience Award at the Elevate Film Festival from its 5,000 attendees. The film connects orphans in Iraq, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Cambodia, Puerto Rico and Compton through music. To further peace and brotherhood, Shae and her producer partner, Kevin Jackson, donated music studios to each orphanage and asked the children to create their own song based on John Lennon's "Imagine". Because the project inspired such a profound reaction, both from the children and the audience, they founded a nonprofit, HearMe, Inc. (http://hearmehub.com) to carry the vision forward.

1993

Upon graduation, D'Lyn immediately made appearances on television and in film. Her first appearance was in a 1993 episode of Quantum Leap, soon followed by the 1993 TNT television film of Arthur Miller's The American Clock. Her television work, aside from Dharma and Greg (1997-2001), and guest-starring appearances in Ellen, Law & Order, and the role of Carolyn Rothstein on Boardwalk Empire in 2014. She starred in the off-Broadway premiere of Tennessee Williams' Baby Doll.

2006

D'Lyn directs theater, film, and television productions, and has founded a production company based in Los Angeles and Puerto Rico and an artists' cooperative in Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver, and Toronto with over 400 members. D'Lyn produced and directed two documentary shorts released in 2006, of which Morir Para Ser Libre was featured at that year's Boston Latino Film Festival.
