Samih Sawiris

Samih Sawiris was born on 1956 in Egypt. Samih Sawiris is the youngest son of Egyptian construction magnate Onsi Sawiris. He heads Orascom Development, which builds and operates resorts in Egypt, Montenegro, and Switzerland. The company's earnings were hard hit by the drop in tourism in Egypt that followed the political uprising in 2011, but have since rebounded, thanks to cost cutting, a spin-out of its construction business in Egypt, and the sale of assets. In January 2015, the company sold 15% of its subsidiary, Orascom Hotels & Development, on the Egyptian stock exchange. The company is counting on the new regime in Egypt to bring stability. Sawiris also owns nearly 10% of construction giant OCI N.V., which was founded by his father, Onsi, and is now run by his brother Nassef. Onsi, Nassef and brother Naguib are all billionaires.
