Born and raised in Queensland, the only Australian town with a Hollywood backlot - Warner Roadshow Studios became Sam's backyard and a perfect environment for a 16 year old to spend considerable time learning the trade of American feature films.
Excelling in film and television throughout secondary school, Sam produced his first film "Larmor Lament" in his final year. He successfully failed every other subject at high school with flying colours - however received an academic recognition for his efforts after topping the grade in film and media studies.
Sam's "super producer" skills began to show at 17 whilst still in high school - where he persuaded the headmaster to sign off on the schools public liability insurance to somehow gain full permission from the local council to block off part of the towns main CBD for 30mins, diverting traffic, whilst he and his student film crew "got the shot they needed" free of charge of course (no easy feat for a seasoned professional).
Sam graduated in 2005 after completing a two year diploma of screen from The Queensland School of Film and Television followed by an internship at the local Television network. Although producing came natural to Sam, his creative mind became restless and decided he wanted to call the shots as a director.
This worked out well for Sam as he would often surround himself with a great team - something his producing skills taught him well.Formally known as one half of the dynamic DJ duo " The Juvenile DJ's" he took a brief hiatus from film to pursue a very successful three year career in the music industry.
Starting to make a name, Sam and his partner in crime Mike Ashton, found themselves playing along side some of the biggest DJ's on the planet. Warming up for the likes of Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez, Martin Solving, Basement Jax, Busy P, Vanilla Ice, and locally Ruby Rose - just to name a few.
. Sam embarked on a wild ride that took him around the globe and back. This was short lived, as Sam did not enjoy the constant touring lifestyle. Warn out at the end of 2009, Sam decided to hang up the headphones and return to his true love of film.
In 2010, after accidentally enrolling in an advanced masterclass workshop for Actors (not filmmakers) he found himself in the room with Emmy award winning casting director Tom McSweeney. Thrown in the deep end with no notice, being camera shy and having to 'cold-read' a script in front of a class of highly trained actors - Sam describes this as the worst moment of his life, but also a turning point - being born dyslexic and unable to read the script from nervousness - resulted in Sam giving a half performance/half meltdown rendition of rehearsal sides from the film Tootsie.
To Sam's astonishment, red-faced and having made an absolute fool of himself, Tom (one of the most respected casting directors in the country) gave Sam some positive feedback on his "off cuff" performance of the Tootsie scene, informing Sam that if he were to take this seriously "You'll will book gigs".
After the days following the humiliation and embarrassment, Sam decided it was time to catch the acting bug. He began to immerse himself in acting studies for two years at The Australian Film and Television Academy where he claims he learned more about making movies in acting classes then he ever did at film school.
With a skillset now on both sides of camera, it wasn't long before he started to "book gigs" and was appearing in dozens of TV commercials, notably for Chivas Regal where he stared along Chris Noth from Sex In The City.
From there he began to land minor roles on feature films, and bit parts in sketch comedy series as he seemed to have a natural knack for comedy. In July 2018 Sam achieved an acting milestone, landing his first leading role in a feature film.
Playing the pathetic but loveable, James Archon a suicidal taxi driver turned hitman, in the black comedy "The Ferryman" set for independent release in 2019.Having a true passion for everything movies - Sam continues to gain notoriety as an actor, director and producer and whilst he enjoys a successful career in all three roles, it's hard to pin down what he loves the most.
