Wilson grew up in the Kansas City area (Overland Park, KS) and credits his parents, C. Emmett Wilson and Vonnie Wilson, with imputing the empathy required to portray various roles. He has lived in five different regions in the U.

S., as well as Tokyo and northern Japan. Wilson lives and works mostly in Los Angeles, California.Wilson's most recent work is in Cain and Abel (2016) (Japan), The Colors of Emily (2017), and Blue Call.

He also appears in The Good Book (2014) as The Preacher. Wilson has appeared in several national commercials in Japan, including COCO Juku language schools (with over 900,000 views on Youtube after TV airing was completed).

Wilson is recognizable across Japan as the CEO in a series of 9 Daikin air conditioner commercials that were broadcast nationally from 2013 to 2015.Wilson resides and works in Los Angeles, and frequently travels to Tokyo.
