Romanian-born political scientist, Historian, and scholar who directed the Rosenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies in New York. Between 1963 and 2013, he published more than ten historical works on the Hungarian Jewish experience of the Holocaust.
Before Fame
He received his Ph.D. in political science in 1952 from New York's New School for Social Research. He subsequently became a Professor of Political Science at the City University of New York.

His political/historical work, The Politics of Genocide: The Holocaust in Hungary, earned him the Jewish National Book Award in 1981.
