An alumnus of both Belhaven University and Howard University where she received her Masters of Fine Arts, she served as the Director of Education and Curator at the Human Rights Education Institute in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho from 2008 until 2010. She resigned amidst a series of hate crimes targeting herself and the institute.
