In 2003, he directed The Long Christmas Dinner at the Shaw Festival as part of the Directors Project.Paul co-founded and served as Artistic Director of two Hamilton-based theatre companies: the Scaffold Theatre Project, where he directed open-air productions of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and As You Like It on the roof of a downtown shopping centre; and the Alchemist Theatre, where selected directing credits included Kvetch, The Anger in Ernest and Ernestine, Othello, and Glengarry Glen Ross.
