Indian property tycoon Niranjan Hiranandani cofounded Hiranandani Group with brother Surendra who now owns his independent venture. The brothers still own some assets jointly, mainly the Powai township in suburban Mumbai, which they built on a former quarry. In what was billed as India's largest commercial real estate deal, they sold their commercial and retail assets in Powai to Canda's Brookfield Asset Management for $1 billion. Through his family office Nidar Group, Hiranandani is investing in energy infrastructure, building natural gas pipelines and two gas storage terminals. Upcoming projects overseas include a budget hotel in Dubai to be managed by Accor under the Ibis Styles brand.

In 1981 he started his first Business, a textile weaving unit in Kandivali, Mumbai.
1985
Along with his brother Surenda, he bought 250 acres land in Powai, Mumbai in 1985 and started a real estate Business under the name Hiranandani Gardens. Hiranandani Constructions is working on revamping and launching two townships that the developer acquired through a court auction for nearly Rs 1,000 crore. Hiranandani Estate is a township built in Thane, a part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Area in Maharashtra. Hiranandani Hospital was started in Powai in 2006 and Thane in 2011.

Hiranandani is on board of 17 schools, including the Hiranandani Foundation School in Powai and Thane. Hiranandani is the past President of the Maharashtra Chambers of Housing Industry; Chairman of Mumbai City, Development and Environment Committee of the Indian Merchants Chambers (I.M.C.) He is also the former Chairman of Advisory Council of Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI). He is also a part of the Hon. Board of Advisors of IIMUN.
