Niels Bourgonje (1980) is an award-winning short film and commercial director based in Amsterdam. Niels started out as an intern on the international feature film THE DEVILS DOUBLE which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
He graduated with the short thriller BURN, which was selected for several Academy Award qualifying film festivals, like In The Palace International Short Film Festival, winning numerous awards. Since then, his fourteen short films have consistently been selected for Academy Award qualifying festivals like Palm Springs ShortFest, Seattle International Film Festival, Go Short FilmFest, Curtas Vila do Conde, Iris Prize Festival, Brussels Short Film Festival, and Leuven Kortfilm.
His most recent films, BUDDY, TURN IT AROUND and SKOGAFOSS, garnered over eighty film festival selections. SKOGAFOSS won twenty awards. Niels recently ventured into the horror genre with SWIPE and his up-coming short WOODLAND CEMETERY.
Niels is currently developing his feature film debut.
