Mike is CEO and SFX Supervisor at Artem Ltd - a leading physical special effects company with workshops in London and Glasgow. He has been in the Special Effects business for over 35 years, the last 27 of which have been with Artem which he helped to establish and has run since the start.
Artem works in Feature Film, TV and Commercials and Mike has been involved in projects across each of these creative sectors. His feature film credits include 'Welcome to the Punch', 'Hummingbird', 'Hot Fuzz', 'Ironclad, 'The Eagle' and, most recently, 'Macbeth' with Michael Fassbender and 'Hunter's Prayer with Sam Worthington.
Before Artem, when at the BBC, Mike worked on such cult projects as 'Blake's 7', 'Dr Who', and 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy', and many other Drama and Entertainment productions. He began his career in Theatre as a Set Designer and Production Manager in rep and opera.
In November 2005, Mike became Dr Kelt when he was awarded an Honorary Degree by the University of Hertfordshire for 'Outstanding Achievement in Special Effects at Home and Abroad'Mike sits on BSAC, (British Screen Advisory Council), the Board of UK Screen, (the trade body for the facilities sector), Skillset's Facilities Skills Council, and the Court of the University Of Hertfordshire.
