Mida Chu is a director, cinematographer, and media designer. He is a 2014 National YoungArts finalist. His films have been selected and screened at film festivals around the world, including Los Angeles Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, NFFTY, Trinity International Film Festival, etc.
His most recent film "Harmony of Grey" participated in the 69th Cannes Film Festival's short film corner and Made in NYC section of Big Apple Film Festival. Currently he is working on a sci-fi fantasy short "There Was A Beginning", scheduled to finish post production in 2018Mida is also an avid collaborator of theatrical work.
He did media design for Round Room Image's experimental play "Surrounded", which toured in Longmont, Chicago, and Winnipeg. He developed "How to Be a GoodPerson(TM)" with Lamplighter Productions, which opened in NYC and toured in Pittsburgh.
Mida is currently a philosophy student at NYU. His paper "Semantic Ambiguity Explained in the Framework of Cognitive Economy" was published in Stance International Undergraduate Philosophy Journal. He presented the same paper at The 21st Annual Pacific University Undergraduate Philosophy Conference.
Mida's philosophical interest lies in the philosophy of language, the pragmatic-semantic interface in particular. His current project is to construct a theory of narrative semantics.Mida is currently a member of Lincoln Center Student Advisory Council.
