Melanie Alexis Araya was born in 1993 in Sydney, Australia to an Ecuadorian mother and Chilean father. Growing up in Sydney's South West, Melanie grew up in a multicultural community where she approached the Powerhouse Youth Theatre in 2005 to be involved in her first acting experience.
Throughout high school, Melanie enjoyed being involved in the arts. Taking acting seriously in her final years, she attended a performing arts high school majoring in drama.During this time, Melanie acted in various plays such as 'Sparkleshark' (2010), 'The Invalid Rehearsal' (2010) and 'The Crucible' (2011).
She attended the National Institute of Dramatic Arts from 2010-2011 to study acting then live production.She has been involved in a range of short films, TVCs, web commercial and educational videos. To date, Melanie has predominately been involved in theatre.
As a young advocate for the arts, Melanie completely supports the access of theatre for all people, whether it be as audiences or as performers.In February 2012, Melanie co-founded theatre production company Mon Sans Productions with her partner Liviu Monsted.
To date, Mon Sans Productions has staged two plays. 'Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead' by Bert V. Royal in 2012 at the Seymour Centre and 'Not a Word' by Liviu Monsted himself in 2013 at the Riverside Theatres.
