Martin Sacks was born on October 16, 1959 in  Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Australia, is Actor, Director. Martin Sacks has worked in Film, Television and Theatre for over thirty five years. Having studied acting at the prestigious Stella Adler Acting School in New York, Martin has appeared in many varied film and television roles including the feature films 'Emoh Ruo', 'Slate, Wyn and Me', 'Love in Limbo' with Russell Crowe, as well as the French film 'LaTricheuse' co-starring Kristen Scott Thomas. His US television credits include , 'Jake and the Fatman' and the groundbreaking character drama, 'ThirtySomething'. In Australia, his television credits include the miniseries 'Do or Die', 'Fields of Fire', the telemovie 'My Husband My Killer' playing the lead role of Andrew Kalajzic & ABC telemovie "Cliffy", playing Sid Young. It was the police drama 'Blue Heelers' that established Martin as one of Australia's most talented actors, earning him five consecutive silver Logies for best actor. Following his departure from the show after eleven years, Martin moved behind the camera to direct his first film, 'Crushed', which screened at the LA International Film Festival. He also directed numerous episodes of Blue Heelers and the medical drama, 'All Saints'. His real passion, however, was acting and after gaining experience behind the camera, was offered the role of loan shark, Mario Condello, in the original and highly acclaimed crime drama, Underbelly. Since then he has featured in guest roles on television dramas including City Homicide, Sea Patrol, Rescue: Special Ops, Lowdown, Offspring ,The Straits, Jack Irish, Wonderland, A Place to Call Home, Reef Doctors and Rake. Martin starred in feature films 'The Cup' (2011), BAIT 3D (2012), Rise (2014), Truth (2015), Don't Tell (2016). He is currently on Wentworth on SoHo Channel.

Biography/Timeline

1970

Sacks was born in Sydney. He first got into acting after a bit part in an episode of The Love Boat when it was filming in the Pacific. His first role came about in the series The Restless Years in the late 1970s, which started him on the television circuit in Australia. He emigrated to Hollywood in the 1980s, guest starring in series such as thirtysomething, but preferred Australia, and so he returned there after a few years. Also had guest appearances in: Love in Limbo, Encounters, Irresistible Force, Fields of Fire III, All the Way, Touch the Sun: Princess Kate, Slate, Wyn & Me, Tricheuse, La, Emoh Ruo, Stock Squad and The City's Edge.

1993

Against his first instinct, Sacks took the role of Detective P.J. Hasham in the 1993 series Blue Heelers. The show rocketed him to fame, most notably his 7-year "will-they-or-won't-they" relationship with Constable Maggie Doyle (Lisa McCune) which ended with her death in the programme's seventh season.

2001

During the time he starred on the show, Sacks married Kate and had two children, Jack and Ned and had leading roles in two major Australian miniseries: Do or Die and My Husband My Killer (both 2001).

2005

After playing P.J. for twelve years, and being one of only three original cast still on the show in the twelfth season, Sacks left Blue Heelers to spend time with his growing family. His last episode aired on 10 August 2005. Sacks expressly asked the producers not to kill his character, so that he could return for a guest spot in the Future. He did not get the chance, however: the show was cancelled in early 2006.

2008

Sacks also starred in the 2008 Australian TV hit, Underbelly, portraying underworld loanshark Mario Condello. In 2010, Sacks guest starred in three different shows – City Homicide, Rescue: Special Ops and Sea Patrol. In 2013 he appeared in Wentworth.
