Kathy Fields was born on 1947 in San Francisco, California, United States. Dermatologist Kathy Fields and her business partner Katie Rodan have created two successful skincare brands: Proactiv Solutions and Rodan + Fields. The pair created Proactiv in 1990 and licensed the acne medication to infomercial company Guthy-Renker five years later. In 2003, Fields and Rodan sold their eponymous brand to Estee Lauder; they bought it back in 2007. Sales of Rodan + Fields, which now uses direct selling model, hit $1 billion for the first time in 2016, up more than 800% in the past five years. In April 2016, they sold their rights to Proactiv royalties to Guthy-Renker and Nestle.
