Josh Staub is an artist and filmmaker for Walt Disney Animation Studios, most recently serving as Visual Effects Supervisor on the 2017 animated featurette 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure', the 2016 animated short film 'Inner Workings' and the 2014 Academy Award winning animated short film 'Feast'.
Prior to assuming the Visual Effects Supervisor role, Josh contributed as a Lighting Supervisor on the Academy Award winning animated feature film 'Frozen', as well as 'Tangled', and as a Lighting Artist on 'Bolt' and the Academy Award winning animated short film 'Paperman'.
Before joining Disney in 2007, Josh Staub served as Art and Visual Design Director for Cyan Worlds, creators of Myst, Riven, and URU: Ages Beyond Myst. At age 22 Josh became the Art Director for Cyan, widely considered the art and storytelling pioneers of the gaming world.
From his roles in Riven (CG Production Director, Game Designer, and Lead Artist) to URU: Ages Beyond Myst (Art and Visual Design Director) his artistic and storytelling skills helped to elevate Cyan Worlds' position as a leader in the gaming industry.
In 2005, Josh completed his first film 'The Mantis Parable', a cg animated short created entirely by Josh, allowing him for the first time to combine his artistic, storytelling, and musical talents into one project.
The Mantis Parable screened in over 100 festivals worldwide (Tribeca, Annecy), and won 18 top awards including twice qualifying for Academy Award nomination consideration. The film has also graced the screens of the nation's top art museums - the Smithsonian Institute, the National Gallery of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York where it resides in permanent archive.
In 2018, Josh was inducted into the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (Oscars) for "exceptional accomplishments in the field of theatrical motion pictures."
