Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Jonathan Grubbs studied at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies while interning at EUE/Screen Gems Studios under the guidance of Frank Capra, Jr.

After university, he began doing research and story development for the Food Network and HGTV programming.Early in his career he worked mainly on commercials. Since 2000, he's been a part of more than 300 national and regional spots for the likes of Coca-Cola, Apple, NASCAR, UPS, Target, Ford, Under Armour, Sprint, Toyota, Verizon, Bank of America, Sprint and hundreds of others.

In addition to commercials, he began taking work on feature films, including Will Ferrell's 'Talladega Nights', Danny McBride's 'Foot Fist Way' and 'NASCAR: The IMAX Experience'. In 2009, Grubbs produced an indie film called, 'Esposito' which was very successful on the film festival circuit securing its distribution through Vanguard Cinema.

In 2010, he was the Executive Producer for the documentary 'One Love for Chi' which told of the tragic car accident involving the Deftones bassist, Chi Cheng. In 2013, he returned to Haiti as the second unit Director of Photography for the Hallmark movie, 'The Ultimate Life' In 2014, he was the Unit Production Manager and Post Production Supervisor for the feature docu-drama, 'Four Blood Moons'.

In 2015, he was the Line Producer for the Hallmark film, 'The Ultimate Legacy' starring Raquel Welch, Brian Dennehy, Bill Cobbs, and Doug Jones.For television, he's worked as a camera operator for Oprah, Dr.

Phil Show, Entertainment Tonight, The Insider, Science Channel, and Red Bull (webisodes). In 2009, he was Unit Production Manager for the show "Born To Drive". Between 2013 and 2014, he was Assistant Director to various award-winning short films for the Inspiration Network and Moments.

Org. In 2014, he produced the pilot for the television series, 'The Summers Sisters' and was the Production Manager for ESPN's 30 for 30 "The U: Part 2".His international film and television work has lead him to more than 15 countries.

In 2010, Grubbs traveled to Haiti immediately after the deadly earthquake took the lives of more than 300,000 of its citizens. He shared video reports on how supplies and relief were being provided by Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelical Association.

Later that same year, he traveled back to Haiti and on to South America with the Halogen Network's original program, 'Noble Exchange', a television series that follows rising celebrities who are asked to work with local mentors in some of Latin America and the Caribbean's most beautiful and dangerous places.

The show included guests from American Idol, America's Next Top Model, fashion designers, and various musical artists. The international travel continued in 2011 when Grubbs returned to Haiti a third time for three months as the Supervising Producer for three nationally broadcast Haitian television programs called "Jezi se Espwa-m" (Jesus Is My Hope).

The programs were filmed entirely in the native language of Haitian Creole with an almost entirely Haitian crew. After that project was complete, Grubbs headed to Madrid, Spain to polish up three similar programs there called "Mi Esperanza" (My Hope).
