Before Fame

Selected 6th overall in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft, he helped his team enter the playoffs for the first time in 1988, and was selected to the All-Star team the following year.

He joined the coaching staff of the Devils in 2002, and earned the head coaching spot in 2010; but after a record of 9-22, the Devils fired him.
