Hughes started out as an actress studying at Northwestern University which she followed up by being part of the first graduating class of The New Actors Workshop, the Mike Nichols, Paul Sills, George Morrison school in NYC.
Moving to Los Angeles in 1992, she was an actress on shows such as Power Rangers, Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless as well as many low budget movies. Deena Katz offered her a job as a Talent Coordinator on the American Comedy Honors special with producer George Schlatter and Hughes discovered she loved being behind the scenes.
Talent Coordinator gigs on many shows including Comedy Central Presents, Viva Variety, Countdown to the Emmys, The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show and Playboys 50th Anniversary quickly followed thanks again to Deena Katz.
She worked on the Martin Short show Primetime Glick as the Celebrity Coordinator the first season and was promoted to Casting Director the next. She was the Talent Booker on the F/X TV series The X Show where she worked with Mark Cronin and Gary Auerbach.
She has also booked celebrities for Hallmark, HGTV, E and many others. Hughes has cast many pilots and TV series for networks such as MTV, E, Comedy Central, Spike, A&E, Fox, the CW and Investigation Discovery.
She also worked as a producer on Miss USA and Miss Teen USA. She casts and produces movies with director William Butler. Their upcoming titles include My Babysitter, the Superhero, The Three Bears and the Perfect Gift and Dark Skies.
