James is a Cinematogapher based in Sydney, Australia and recently received accreditation from the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS), acknowledging his wide and acclaimed body of work across feature films, documentaries, music videos and commercials.

A graduate of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS), James shot the independent feature Nerve which premiered at the 2013 Sydney Film Festival.

James has also worked extensively with AACTA Award winning director Lucy Gaffy on her short films The Gift, The Fence and The Lovesong of Iskra Prufrock. James has won multiple ACS Awards for his commercial work on campaigns for brands such as Jetstar, Sony, CBA, Toyota, Fox Sports, SBS and MTV.

James recently shot the international feature film Matar A Jesus with director Laura Mora, which had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Following TIFF it screening at the San Sebastian film festival winning the "Erski Youth Award" and at the Chicago Intl Film Festival winning the Roger Ebert Award .

As well as considerable drama and commercial experience James has a passion for producing and directing his own documentary projects. This includes short form documentary and more recently he produced, directed and shot a 1 hour tv documentary about Syrian Refugees living in Jordan.
