2020 got off with a flying start, seeing the premiere of new Netflix series Ragnarok (2020) written by Adam Price, the creator of Borgen (2010), for which Halfdan also composed the music. At the same time the Danish series Badehotellet (2013), ever more popular all over The Nordic countries, kicked off its 7th season, receiving superlative reviews all over.

Previously, the multi award-winning Danish composer scored completed the music for series 2 of the hit Danish series Gidseltagningen (2017), also shown on Channel 4 in the UK.Halfdan scored BBC1's much-praised thriller Apple Tree Yard (2017), directed by Jessica Hobbs for Kudos Film & TV, and starring Emily Watson and Ben Chaplin.

In 2018, he scored a Finnish award-nominated feature, Ihmisen osa (2018) for Smile Entertainment as well as completing the animation feature Hodja fra Pjort (2018). Halfdan first burst onto the international market of course with his music for all 3 series (30 episodes) of Borgen (2010).

The show is still screened all over the world and US Newsweek hailed it as The Best Political Show Ever.Other recent credits include Danish family film called Jeg er William (2017) for Metafilm, Iqbal & the Jewel of India (2018) for Miso Film, as well as licensing some of his syncs for the feature Return of a President: After the Coup in Madagascar (2017).

Documentaries include Præsidenten (2011) (Guldbrandsen Film); Tintin et moi (2003) (Angel Film) and Worlds Out of Time (SFC).Halfdan started his career in music as a bass player in many different Danish bands before joining the group Laid Back, then signed to BMG Records.

The band's international hits included Sunshine Reggae, Bakerman and White Horse. He later teamed up with the Danish poet Dan Turèll and together they recorded 2 hit albums, winning 2 Danish Emmys. He was already an established rock star before studying for a degree at Copenhagen's Academy of Music, majoring in playing, composition, orchestration, arranging and sound engineering.

As a senior figure in the Danish media, Halfdan is Chairman of the Danish Federation of Film and Media Composers and is a leading campaigner for composers. He works from his own dedicated film music facility in Copenhagen, now also home to his record label PlantSounds releasing original film soundtracks.
