Before Fame

He studied at the University of Marburg but took breaks to travel to Scandinavia and North America working odd jobs. He then studied photography in Germany under Otto Steinert at the Folkwangschule University. He then co-founded VISUM photo agency. In the early 1990's, he signed a contract with National Geographic.
