In 1985, he left Landsburg to became music rights executive on "Star Search" with Ed McMahon, overseeing music licenses through the series conclusion in the mid-1990's.
Evan's company was founded in 1987 with "Star Search" and "It's Showtime at the Apollo" as primary clients. EMG soon became affiliated with the music-driven promotion campaigns at Fox, handling Fox's on-air promo music clearances for over a decade.
In the 90's, EMG handled music rights for Witt-Thomas-Harris series such as "The Golden Girls" and "Empty Nest," the 1992 Clinton Inauguration, the premiere season of "Late Night with David Letterman" at CBS (1993), "Married with Children," and the syndicated release of the first 25 seasons of "Saturday Night Live" a massive project requiring clearance of over 5,000 copyrights.
More recent EMG highlights include Celine Dion's "A New Day" in Las Vegas, and the clearance of the DVD reincarnations of classic series such as "The Honeymooners: The Lost Episodes," "The Midnight Special," and "The Carol Burnett Show.
