From theater productions, film, television and interactive web sights and CD ROMs to commercials, video games and concert halls, his music and sound design have heightened the experience of audiences.

He is the son of concert violinists Ruben Varga and Norma Varga. For several generations, his family has been involved in music. After studying with such prestigious composers as: David Del Tredici, Robert Starrer, and Tania Leon, he completed his first degree in traditional composition and went on to achieve a second degree in music technology.

He followed this with an MFA in television production which provided him with a wide knowledge of video production and post production. Mr. Varga recently provided the music for the independent film, "Imposter" and also "Happy Ending" which premiered at CineGear Expo at Paramount Studios and The Newport Beach Film Festival respectively.

Some other projects include the theme song for TLC's series, "Wedded To Perfection", theme music for Discovery Channel's series "Disappeared" and the theme music for The Weather Channel's series, "Storm Riders".

David also composed the theme music and contributed to the overall sound and soundtrack of Sundance Channel's series, "Eco Trip-The Real Cost Of Living" and MSNBC's "Future Earth-100 Heart Beats". In addition, he composed music for the video game, "Culpa Innata" by Momentum Digital Media Technologies.

Other recent works include music for several commercials, the soundtrack for Strindberg's "The Ghost Sonata" at the New York Strindberg Festival, and the theme music for NBC's Dateline Saturday which can also be heard on MSNBC, Discovery ID and TLC in various crime documentaries.

His works have been performed at a variety of New York venues including Gershwin Hall, Aaron Davis Hall, Riverside Church, Here NY, La Mama and Theater For the New City as well as in local and national broadcasts.

His string quartet "Ruined Cathedral" was premiered in the M.S.O. Fellowship Recital Series, Montgomery, AL. He is an Emmy Award winner for Quick Turn Around Editing for NBC News' "Inside The Obama White House with Brian Williams" and was also nominated for an Editing Emmy for "1968 with Tom Brokaw" on History Ch.

His editing experience began in the early 1990s as a Protools audio editor, a skill that has proved to be extremely useful in video editing. In addition, David is a music composer, another skill that comes in handy when finessing and editing picture to music or vice versa.

In this type of work, it is vital to have a knowledge of rhythm and phrasing.In the mid 90's, before working on Avid and other non-linear edit systems, he very briefly worked on linear beta and 1 inch systems.

His body of editing work includes: national commercials, broadcast and cable television shows including documentaries and reality TV, studio-based shows and out-door sports events. David has also edited independent films and music videos, including editorial work on "All the Way to Reno" for the band R.
