David-Michael Madigan started out his career in the performing arts at the age of eleven, studying dance (jazz, tap & ballet) with Scarlett Antonia, a professional dancer from New York who studied for many years under Martha Graham.
At the age of sixteen, Scarlett Antonia and David-Michael created a touring troupe of high school age singers, dancers, and actors; they named their troupe "Young Performers", touring the Colorado Springs and Denver region for two years.
During this time, David-Michael was also in residence with Music Theater of the Rockies (MTR) under the direction of Hal Hundley at the Pikes Peak Center in Colorado Springs, a 2,000+ state of the art theater.
During his time with MTR, he played Henry Anderson, the youngest son of Broadway and big screen legend John Raitt (father of singer Bonnie Raitt) in "Shenandoah", was principal dancer in "Annie Get your Gun" starring Metropolitan Opera star Patrice Munsel, a principal dancer in "Mame" starring TV star Gretchen Wyler, the role of Steve Bullnack in "Paint Your Wagon" starring TV and legendary recording artists Earl Wrightson & Lois Hunt, and the role of Charlie Bates (The Artful Dodger's young apprentice and side kick) in "Oliver" starring TV and Broadway star David Canary.
At age 16 he was accepted into the Talented and Gifted (TAG) arts program, presented with a year scholarship to Vannoy Talent Academy where he studied acting, was a national model for JimmyJams surf clothing and appeared in television commercials.
His career took a new direction at age 19 when he decided to attend design school; he enrolled and was accepted at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Los Angeles, where he completed his Associates of Arts degree.
Now, in his 27th year as an Interior Designer / Artist, David-Michael has developed a solid name for himself in the residential and commercial design fields that has won the trust and respect of his clients from around the word.
He is a member of the International Interior Design Association(IIDA).Having won numerous awards and accolades for his design work that stretches from Manhattan, the Islands of Hawaii, Europe, and China, David-Michael is constantly challenging himself to set new heights in his career.
With an eye for the classic; whether it be traditional or modern, he is known for his esoteric aesthetic approach. With a strong respect for history, he is a historic preservationist and a member of The National Trust for Historic Preservation.
In his spare time, David-Michael restores historic properties and in such, writes a column entitled "Home Restoration" for the historic district where he resides in Santa Ana, California.In addition, he writes a monthly feature column for the nationally distributed Orange County HOME Magazine and The Orange County Register and their 8 sister papers across the US, entitled, "Design Forward".
He continues to expand on his creative talents with two signature designer lines of concrete flooring tiles, "Minimalist" and "Casa Monterey" which are available world-wide at better design centers. His name, which is now also a brand, is not only associated with his signature flooring lines, and his rare design aesthetic, but also with the design segments he hosts on Warner Brothers KTLA's "Morning Show", and Fox's KTTV "Good Day LA", where REPLAY Clothing exclusively provides his on-air wardrobe.
His design work may be seen regularly in most every major design magazine and media. He is in development with an overseas television production company on his upcoming design series.In 2001, David-Michael stepped into the film production arena by executive producing his first short film, "Superfag".
The film went on the win multiple awards at film festivals around the world. Most notably, The HBO Audience Award. He continues to expand his involvement in film production and is now president of his second company, Expression! Films.
David-Michael is backing two new film projects in 2013, both are in production. The first film, in which David-Michael is the Executive Producer, is entitled "The Call". The second film, in which David Michael is an Associate Producer, is entitled "Second Class Citizens".
In 2014, David-Michael is backing a new film project, a documentary, titled "The last One"; he is an Associate Producer. This brilliant and timely documentary shines a bright new light on The Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt.
Additional projects are in the works and will be announced in the coming months.Beyond David-Michael's creative endeavors, he is passionate about being a human rights activist; involving himself in important causes like the HRC (Human Rights Campaign Fund), GLAD (Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders), Aid for AIDS and The Orange County Homeless Shelter.
He is a LGBTQ youth mentor and created the Group, "One Million Moms & Dads That Love and Support Their LGBTQ Children" here on Facebook in February, 2012. This group is as a safe zone to allow parents, families and friends to show their, unconditional love and support of their LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bi, trans-gender & questioning) children, family and friends.
David-Michael firmly believes that through unconditional love, support and understanding, we can all grow and live in peace, free from judgment and persecution. He says that we must get our message of hope out there to the LGBTQ youth that are being raised by parents that subjugate them.
