David Max Steinberg is a cinematographer, photographer, and former professor at San Diego State University Department of Theater, Film and Television where he taught cinematography and lighting courses.
He teaches the production curriculum at the University of California, San Diego's Digital Arts Center (DAC VSMG) located in La Jolla, CA.Professional A M.F.A. Graduate of NYU's Institute of Film & Television (1985) and former I.
A.T.S.E. Local 600 Director of Photography in New York City, Mr. Steinberg's directorial debut (the feature film "Severance" (1988)), won an invitation to appear in Italy at the Florence Feature Film Festival.
It was subsequently picked up for international distribution by Fox / Lorber Associates, Inc. in New York after debuting at the 1989 Independent Feature Project. He was signed with the prestigious William Morris Agency at 29.
Preferring work behind the camera, David left the Morris agency and moved to Los Angeles where he photographed features for Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus of Cannon Films. He joined I.A.T.S.E 644 as a Director of Photography working of a project with Abe Vigoda, Sherman Helmsley and Champion Joe Frazier (directed by Nick Staglioni).
His music video credits involve projects for Prince, Roxy Music, Lee Ritenour, Diamond Rio, and Miles Davis, Donald Fagan and more.
