Darius has worked on films with different genres over the past years. He began his career as a photographer before pursuing moving imagery and is still doing photography until today alongside his cinematography work.

He works very versatile and adapts to the director's vision, and is very story-driven as he always thrives to bring out the art within the story.Pardaa (2017) reached the Semi-Finalist of the 44th Student Academy Awards with multiple selections of festivals over in the USA, UK and India, including being screened at the BAFTA Affiliated Aesthetica Film Festival in the UK.

His second British-Indian television-film, ZEE5 Original Khoj (2019) is now streaming on the largest TV streaming platform in India, ZEE5.He was then appointed to shoot the film Secret Child: The Bridge (2018) in late 2017 which is based on the true story from the bestselling book, Secret Child, by Gordon Lewis published by Harper Collins, working alongside Fiona Glascott (Brooklyn and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), Austin Taylor and Aaron McCusker (Shameless, Bohemian Rhapsody).

The film has won over 20 awards with 19 nominations across the world from Los Angeles, Canada, UK, Asia and Europe including 5 Best Cinematography awards. It won Best Debut Film at the New Renaissance Film Festival 2018 in London and was premiered at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood for the Oscar Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival 2018.

It was nominated Best Period Piece.Darius had his directorial debut after co-directing, writing, shooting and producing His Hands with Arron Blake which went on to have a world premiere at Robert De Niro's prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York (2019).

After being selected from a record number of submissions worldwide (over 5000), it was nominated for Best Narrative Short. His Hands is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Mark Gatiss, the producer of Netflix/BBC series Dracula and Sherlock, quoted His Hands as, "A beguilingly beautiful gem, Arron Blake and Darius Shu's His Hands defies easy analysis. Shot through with strange, homoerotic melancholy it's ravishing to look at and haunts the memory long after.

"In 2019, Darius teams up to shoot a film with director Rikki-Beadle Blair, MBE.Later that year, Darius reunited with director Yew Weng Ho on a new dyslexia film, Mical (2020). It follows the true story of Pat and Mike Jones on the struggles and journey of being dyslexic.

The film is to create awareness on dyslexia and to support the Dyslexia Trust.In 2020, he teams up with Shiva Raichandani on his new British-Asian drama-musical film Queer Parivaar based on an interfaith queer wedding.

Darius also shot a British-Filipino film written by Seraphina Beh (Netflix's Top Boy) working alongside director Janisè Sadik and producer Tuyet Huynh.He is working on more film and television projects.
