In the 1993 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft, he was taken in the 14th round by the New York Yankees.

At the conclusion of his senior season at Florida State, he was named to the Honorable Mention list of All-Americans. He was subsequently taken in the 4th round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. After being cut by the Atlanta Falcons in 2000, he next played for the AFL New York Dragons team in 2004, followed by a stint with the NFL's Denver Broncos. After the 2004 season, he retired. He has since served as a football analyst for various ESPN shows.
