Born in Cambodia and raised in Long Beach, California, D.Y. started learning martial arts on his own at the age of seven by imitating Jet Li and Jackie Chan. At 21 he was introduced to Chinese martial arts at the Southern California Wushu Academy eventually earning numerous medals and honors including the national Wushu title, a place on the U.
S. National Wushu Kung Fu Team in 2003-2004, and representing the USA at the World Games in Macau. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from UCI.His martial arts experience allowed him to transition to the film industry as a stuntman (Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight (2009-2010), stunt coordinator The Ploy (2013), fight choreographer Champion Road: Arena (2010), and fight coordinator Kungfused (2017), while sharpening his acting skills in a number of projects including War Machine (2010), 5th Street (2013), a starring role in the awarding winning film How War Ends (2012) and lead role in Knight of Rain (2015).
