Austin Ellen (born Dawn Joelle Smith) is an English-American actress. She was born in La Palma, California and the age of 6, she moved to Santa Monica, California, where she resides today. At age 6, she was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and at 9, she was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.
At 23, she learned that she was misdiagnosed as Bipolar and that she suffers from treatment-resistant Borderline Personality Disorder. Ellen attended Santa Monica High School, where she graduated in June of 2013.
She attends The Art Institute of California Los Angeles, where she is majoring in Video Production. She earned her Associates in June of 2015 and earned her Bachelor's in 2017. She is currently attending Santa Monica College to obtain a teacher's certificate to become a teacher and plans to resume her film studies, due to the Art Institute, where she graduated, losing its accreditation.
Ellen is predominantly of Native-American ethnicity, being of Seminole, Black/Afro Seminole and Ojibwa heritage. She is also English, Irish and Scottish through her father. Ellen also considers herself a nerd and has a fondness for nerd subculture, mainly Disney, Batman, Nintendo (specifically Legend of Zelda, Earthbound and Pokémon), Harry Potter, The Wizard of Oz, Game of Thrones, Teen Titans, Star Wars and Anime.
She took Japanese in high school and has a fondness for cosplay, often making her own costumes and accessories. She's said that her idols are Carrie Fisher and Natalie Portman, due to the former being successful despite her mental illness and the latter pushing and striving for her all in a dog-eat-dog industry.
She also regularly impersonates Padmé Amidala, a character Natalie Portman played in the Star Wars franchise. Ellen used to go by Madisyn Wright and Lucinda Glenn, but has since identified as non-binary, meaning she does not identify with either gender, and has selected a more gender-neutral stage name.
