Alfonso Bergamo was born in Battipaglia, Italy in 1986. He started creating his first short films at the age of fourteen. After high school, he was accepted at NUCT where he studied Directing for Cinema.
He then attended a two-year course of study at the Accademia del Cinema e della Televisione at Cinecittà Studios, graduating with a diploma in Filmmaking. He went on to study at the Rome University of Fine Arts, where he graduated in 2013 with top honours.
His graduate thesis on Stanley Kubrick, "Fotografare la fotografia della realtà" (Photographing the Photography of Reality) was awarded "Best Thesis of 2010-2014". In 2010, he directed the short film "Ai Confini dell'Anima", which marked the start of his collaboration with producer Erica Fava and the birth of the production company "Look Inside".
In 2011, he directed "The Labyrinth", a short film created in 72 hours for the National Film Challenge (USA), which was awarded in four categories - Audience Choice Award, Best Cinematography, Best Make-Up, Best Thriller/Suspense.
His other short movie "La differenza" was awarded with the Audience Choice Award in the 48H Film Project Rome 2015. Another project saw him directing Vincent Riotta and Craig Peritz in the short film "The Composition".
"Tender Eyes" was his first feature-length film, followed by "Il Ragazzo della Giudecca", a feature film based on a true story with Giancarlo Giannini, Franco Nero and Tony Sperandeo.
