Alex was born and raised in and around London. He attended Marlborough College, where he studied Drama and was involved in many school plays. He then trained as a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain - and went on to get an MA in Philosophy from The University of Edinburgh, where he was heavily involved in the student theatre and the Edinburgh Fringe.
After graduating, he moved to New York, where he trained as an actor at The Barrow Group, and with teacher Sondra Lee (a student of Stella Adler). When he returned to London he continued his training at the Actors Temple in Meisner technique under Tom Radcliffe, himself a student of Meisner.
Alex has acted in numerous plays, commercials, television programmes and independent films. He now teaches Meisner technique and works as an acting coach to top professionals on location.In 2008, he wrote and directed his first stage play, The Space in Between, which performed to sell-out audiences in Edinburgh before it transferred to the Orange Tree Theatre in London.
Happy Accident was his first short film as a writer/director, a family drama starring Kate Fahy and Tim McInnerny. His second film, Synchronicity, a satirical romantic comedy looking at mental health and romance, starred Bafta-winner Bill Paterson.
His third film, Fingers, a 1960s crime drama starring James Alexandrou, Ty Glaser and Anton Saunders, reached a wide online audience and one several accolades. His fourth film, Ok, Mum, played at Cannes film festival and went on to win Best Picture at the Los Angeles Film Awards.
He is working on his debut feature film as a writer/director - working with producer Frida Torresblanco and Braven Films in New York. The film is called Miraculous Isabella and follows the life of visionary British fashion designer Isabella Blow.
This has led to him becoming an ambassador for The Campaign to Change Direction, a not for profit organisation seeking to change the culture around mental health. He is also developing a further slate of projects and while still based in London, now travels extensively.
