He is best known for being the drummer of the band Yes. He joined the Plastic Ono Band in 1969 after being invited by John Lennon. Yes formed in 1968 and released their self-titled debut studio album in 1969. They released the album Time and a Word in 1970. Their album The Yes Album was released in 1971 and reached #4 in the UK. The band's album Fragile was released in 1971 and reached #4 in the US. Yes released the album Close to the Edge in 1972 which reached #1 in the Netherlands and their album Tales from Topographic Oceans was released in 1973 and reached #1 in the UK.
