Always shooting low budget, but with extremely high production value, Ropp started directing successfully at the ripe old age of 17 by winning Nine "Best Picture" film festival awards with one movie, "Last Conversation (2003)".
This was his directorial debut and from the foundation made him an upstart. In 2004, Ropp jumped in front of the camera starring as Smile Crook in "The Great Train Robbery" written by Edwin S. Porter, the same author of "The Crucible" and later Ropp scored a Best Actor Nomination at the 2004 BBIFF for his role as 'Brad' in "The Man on the Side of the Road" (2004).
In 2005, he worked with the director of Shrek and Shark Tales, Vicky Jensen on Ford Austin's shorts, "Cerebral Prints" and returned to writing and directing with the short film "Green Demise" in 2007.
"Green Demise" was accepted into WorldFest Houston in the April, 2007 competition with Ropp winning the Gold as Best Editor from among 4,500 entries. The Festival is known as one of the top 10 film festivals in the United States and the third oldest.
Past filmmakers to win WorldFest include George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott, David Lynch, Oliver Stone, and Spike Lee.
